Clinton Sparks is a Grammy Nominated, multi platinum DJ, Producer and Songwriter. He isrecognized for discovering and signing DJ Snake in 2007 and helping to guide him to megastardom.
Clinton Sparks’ first love has always been music. It was music that saved Clinton’s life and carried him through a turbulent childhood in Boston. Hip-Hop became the soundtrack of Clinton’s life and a way for him to escape the pain and trauma of abuse, neglect and poverty.Raised in Boston by a single mom after Clinton’s alcoholic father left his family when he was just five years old, Clinton was bullied and struggled to fit in.
Sparks learned his toughest lessons from the school of hard knocks, after a stint as a homeless teenager and an internship in organized crime. Clinton’s hustle was strong and he always believed that he was meant for more than the difficult hand he was dealt. Fascinated with remixes he heard on the radio, Clinton taught himself how to DJ and began producing his own remixes. Music was Clinton’s calling and his incredible ear and ability to craft memorable hooks,gave him the power to build a successful career in the music industry.
Clinton turned his turntable hobby into a prolific career in radio hosting shows on Boston’s Hot97.7, Baltimore’s 92Q, Hartford’s 93.7 and Sirius XM’s Shade 45. Clinton hosted the long-time worldwide syndicated radio show called Get Familiar with Clinton Sparks which featured some of the biggest names in music as his special guests.
Sparks has written and produced hit songs for multi-platinum recording artists such as LadyGaga, Beyonce, Usher, Diddy, Pitbull, Ludacris, Big Sean, Akon and Tyrese. In 2012, Clinton was nominated for a Grammy for his production work on Lady Gaga’s Born This Way. That year, heal so won a BMI songwriting award for writing Pitbull’s “Shut It Down” and has since won several ASCAP Awards with DJ Snake as part of his Get Familiar Music publishing company.
As a recording artist, Clinton has collaborated on tracks with Snoop Dogg, Macklemore, DJKhaled and many more. In 2005, Clinton’s debut album Maybe You Been Brainwashed featuring Diddy, Busta Rhymes, Clipse and more was released and in 2014, he released his Rebublic Records/ Photo Finish follow-up EP, ICONoclast featuring 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla Sign, T.I. and more.Clinton was featured on the song “Saturday Night,” which was included on the soundtrack for the 2016 stand-up comedy film, Kevin Hart: What Now?. His most recent single in 2018 featuring Marc E. Bassy is currently headed towards 3 million streams on Spotify.
Clinton Sparks has always been a culture creator and innovator. He co-founded the mixtape database, MixUnit.com; served as music correspondent for the E! series, The Daily 10 and E!News; and has held executive positions at a variety of companies including Karmaloop, Islide, ICRealtech, and currently serves as the executive advisor at Dash Radio and Director of business development for the the #1 team in esports, FaZe Clan.
